DESCRIPTION:A free four-part series providing an introduction to assistive 
 technology and augmentative and alternative communication in short\, 30-mi
 nute sessions throughout the year\n\n\nJoin the Illinois Assistive Technol
 ogy Program (IATP) and Family Matters Parent Training and Information Cent
 er (FMPTIC) for this four-part series on Assistive Technology (AT) and Aug
 mentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).\n\nThe short\, 30-minute se
 ssions will introduce families and caregivers to the programs and services
  available through IATP\, as well as the many options for AT and AAC.\n\nT
 he series will continue with "Exploring Assistive Technology and Augmentat
 ive and Alternative Communication" on Oct. 15. Participants can choose to 
 attend:\n\n 	The afternoon session from 12 to 12:30 p.m.\n 	The evening se
 ssion from 6:30 to 7 p.m.\n\nEvery child’s educational and communication
  needs are different. Understanding the types of AT/AAC available and how
  to obtain them can play an important role in empowering parents advocatin
 g for their child’s needs within the educational setting.\n\nIn this ses
 sion\, parents\, caregivers\, and others will learn about AT and AAC and b
 egin exploring the potential benefits AT/AAC can offer children with vario
 us types of support needs.\n\nThe session is free and open to anyone who w
 ants to learn about IATP\, AT and AAC.\n\nSee the "Introduction to Assisti
