 pecialized Care for Children (DSCC) for our free webinar\, “Planning for
  the Future: Supported Decision-Making and Guardianship\,” on June 8 fro
 m 6 to 7 p.m.\n\nThe presentation is for families of youth with special he
 althcare needs preparing for the transition to adulthood.\n\nBring your qu
 estions and learn from presenter Consuelo Puente\, a retired attorney\, de
 dicated advocate and mother of two adult sons with autism.\n\nConsuelo wil
 l explain the differences between guardianship and supported decision-maki
 ng\, including:\n\n 	What each option means\n 	When they may be appropriat
 e\n 	How they can affect a young person’s rights and autonomy\n\nPartici
 pants will learn how supported decision-making can serve as an alternative
  to full guardianship\, promoting self-determination while helping ensure 
 safety and well-being.\n\nThe presentation will also cover the basic steps
  to establish guardianship in Illinois\, helping families better understan
 d the legal process and what to expect\n\nThe presentation will be in Engl
