DESCRIPTION:A free\, two-part webinar series exploring the national landsca
 pe of programs and policies that support home accessibility for children w
 ith disabilities and their families across the country and an overview of
   home modifications to improve family well-being\n\nChildren with disabi
 lities and complex medical needs often require specialized equipment\, sup
 plies and home modifications to live safely and comfortably at home. Howev
 er\, many families face challenges identifying and navigating services\, p
 aying for home modifications\, and accessing the supports they need.\n\nJo
 in the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health and the Berman In
 stitute of Bioethics’ iDeas Lab for session one of "Essential Yet Out of
  Reach: Home Accessibility for Children with Disabilities" on May 21 from 
 12 to 1 p.m.\n\nThis session will introduce foundation-funded research on 
 the national landscape of programs and policies that support home accessib
 ility for children with disabilities and their families. It will also prov
 ide an overview of home modifications\, including:\n\n 	What they are\n 	W
 hy they matter\n 	How they can help improve safety\, independence and fami
 ly well-being\n\nModerator Carolyn C. Foster\, MD\, MS\, will lead an enga
 ging discussion with experts:\n\n 	Rebecca Seltzer\, MD\, MHS - Pediatric
 ian\, bioethicist\, health services researcher\; Associate Professor of Pe
 diatrics\, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine\n 	Crystal Thomas - Parent nav
 igator\, educator\, advocate\, advisory board member\; Program Lead\, Pati
 ent and Family Advocate\, Children's National Hospital\n 	Tamara Morgan -
  Associate Director\, Adaptive Design Association\, Inc.\n\nDr. Foster is
  is an attending physician at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospita
 l and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinber
 g School of Medicine. She is also chairs the Division of Specialized Care 
 for Children's Medical Advisory Board.\n\nThe discussion will cover:\n\n 	
 Common barriers to accessing home modifications\n 	Real-world impacts of t
 hese supports on children and caregivers\n 	Opportunities for action and a
 dvocacy\n\nTime will also be available for questions and answers with atte
