SUMMARY:Camp Sunshine for Children with PKU and their Families in Maine
DESCRIPTION:Children with phenylketonuria (PKU) and their families can spen
 d time together and enjoy winter sports for free at Camp Sunshine in Maine
 \n\nCamp Sunshine provides children with life-threatening illnesses and th
 eir families a unique\, supportive program at Maine’s Sebago Lake.\n\nMe
 dical support is available throughout each session to assist with the medi
 cal needs of patients attending camp. Urgent Care and other medical facili
 ties are also located nearby. Bereavement sessions are available for famil
 ies who have experienced the death of a child from a supported illness.\n\
 nCamp Sunshine is free and open to families with children ages 21 and unde
 r with diagnoses that include kidney disease\, sickle cell disease\, hemat
 ologic conditions\, phenylketonuria (PKU) and more. Campers come from the 
 United States\, Canada and beyond for illness-specific sessions of varying
  lengths to enjoy:\n\n 	Making memories and building family relationships\
 n 	Meeting others facing similar challenges\n 	Trying new activities\n 	Re
 laxing in a safe\, welcoming environment\n\nCamp Sunshine will host the "P
 KU and Allied Disorders" camp session from Dec. 4 to 7.\n\nChildren with P
 KU and their families will experience winter activities\, including:\n\n 	
 Ice skating\n 	Snowshoeing\n 	Sledding\n 	Horse-drawn carriage rides\n 	Sk
 iing at nearby Pleasant Mountain\n\nTravel reimbursements and volunteer op
