DESCRIPTION:A free program providing support and information for families o
 f young children with hearing loss\n\nThe Institute for Parents of Prescho
 ol Children Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is a five-day program for pare
 nts of children ages 6 and under who have hearing loss. It will take place
  on the campus of the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville from Ju
 ne 10-14\, 2025.\n\nThe Institute focuses on helping families find answers
 \, build connections and access resources all in one place.\n\nParticipati
 ng parents and caregivers will attend daily lectures by experts in the fie
 ld to learn about raising a child with hearing loss.  Lecture topics incl
 ude:\n\n 	Child development\n 	Types of hearing loss\n 	Language developme
 nt\n 	Communication choices\n 	Hearing aids and cochlear implants\n 	Deaf 
 culture\n 	Parent rights\n 	School programming\n\nDuring the Institute\, c
 hildren attend classrooms with experienced teachers of children who are de
 af or hard of hearing. They will have the opportunity to receive hearing\,
  psychological\, speech\, language and educational evaluations. They can a
 lso play with other children who have hearing loss.\n\nSiblings are also w
 elcome to attend. They can stay with their families in the dorms and go to
  recreational activities. There is no cost for families to participate.\n\
 nUIC’s Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) supports the Ins
